Slab

Slabs are solid cement elements available for calculating weight in AlarmCAD for AutoCAD.

To draw a slab from its End Locations, access the Tools menu/ Slab submenu/ End Locations. The Properties page appears first. Set the slab's location within the drawing (if desired) along with its Length/Width, Height/Thickness, etc. in the corresponding fields.

How to Draw a Slab

To draw the slab, left-mouse click at the starting point in the drawing, then drag the cursor to the slab's end location, then left-mouse click again.  Please note that as long as the slab's length is dragged along, the length specified in the Properties page will be overridden. Change any of its properties, if needed, by highlighting the slab, double-clicking, then adjusting its properties. When it is not highlighted, the slab's default gray color is shown to the left.

To draw a slab from its Corner and Edge locations, access the Tools menu/ Slab Submenu/ Corner and Edge Locations. Specify the Length and Width, Height/Thickness, etc. as needed. Left-click at the starting point in the drawing, drag the line segment until the desired edge location is reached, then double-left-click. Please note that the specified Length in the Properties page will not be overridden by drawing with the Corner and Edge location option.

Properties Page

The Properties page displays the Slab's Location within the drawing. The Slab's Length and Width are adjustable, as are its Height/Thickness, Rotation angle, and Scale view. Sticky X, Y, and Z Dimension options can be turned on/off.  However, the sticky dimensions will not change when a grip is dragged, unless Ortho forcing is enabled.

Holes within the slab are listed in the corresponding field. Users can define the hole's properties, delete the hole entirely, or delete all holes by clicking the corresponding box. Also, the Select commands recognize boards as elements, and will select them accordingly.

The CALCULATE SLAB DIMENSIONS command is available for calculating total volume and total mass of selected slab/s.
