The Grid of Appliances tool is a quick way to create a network of connected initiators, notifiers or modules.
Either click the Grid of Appliances icon on the Alarm Tools Toolbar or choose Grid of Appliances from the Tools menu to equip the cursor.
Grid of Appliances' Properties1. Check the appliance type to use on the Grid of Appliances dialog: Initiating Device, Notification Appliance, or Module. Use the Properties button beside each appliance type to modify them prior to insertion.
2. If no wire path should appear between the appliances, make sure the Run Cable between Appliances box is not selected.
3. Checking the Rotate Appliances to Grid option will shift the appliances' symbols to match the direction of the grid. If the option is left unchecked, appliances' symbols will appear as in 'top' view.
4. Under the Appliance Spacing section, set the Equal offset spacing or check Quarter Point spacing.
Equal spacing places the outermost appliances directly on the outside border of the grid.
Quarter-point spacing creates more space between the outside border of the grid and the outermost appliances, making the appliances' rows/columns appear closer together.

In either case, users will see an 'X' indicating where each appliance will be placed in the drawing.
5. After establishing appliance and spacing parameters, click OK.
Draw the Grid of Appliances1. To initiate the grid, left-click at the grid's starting point in the drawing.
2. Drag the cursor horizontally or vertically to set the span of the grid.
3. After the horizontal or vertical span is reached, left-click at that point in the drawing.
4. Drag the cursor again, moving the stretch box to encompass the desired area. Notice how several 'Xs' display within the stretch box, indicating where the appliances will be placed. (See top image on the left).
5. Left click one last time to close the grid's boundary.
6. The left diagram illustrates a small grid of initiating devices, reflecting the selections in the top 'Grid of Appliances' dialog.
