Fire Alarm Control Panel

To place a Fire Alarm Control Panel into a drawing, click on the icon located within AlarmCAD for AutoCAD's Alarm Tools Toolbar, and drag it into the drawing. Alternatively, access the Tools menu/Panel submenu to equip the cursor with a Panel.

The Panel's Name and Network ID display at the top right of the Properties page, and an alternative panel type is available, "PC."

Please Note:  When "PC" Panel is selected, only Additional Battery Loads are available.  The Battery Calculations option box will be disabled.

Battery Calculations

The Battery Calculations and Additional Battery Loads buttons located below the Panel Name/ID allow users to adjust battery parameters to view battery set calculations.

When placed in the drawing, a standard door Control Panel appears, but its properties can be edited by double-clicking the symbol in the drawing. A manufacturer-specific Fire Control Panel can also be placed directly into the drawing by dragging it from the Parts Database, located within the Parts Tree.

The Battery Calculations reporting tool compiles parts information and computes current requirements for a given panel before equipping the cursor to place the data, in chart form, into the drawing.

Catalog Info

The product line displays toward the top of the Catalog Info dialog (see image on right).  In the image on the right,  the product line is Generic Detect-o-Fire, but numerous manufacturers' products are available from the Parts Database within the Parts Tree.  Customize the specific manufacturer's part if desired, by selecting from the Part Number, Type, Description, Card Capacity drop-down menus.

Depending on the part chosen, it may or may not have an additional Type, Description, or Card Capacity to further describe it.  Customize the Symbol Label in the drawing if the part's description is not available from the drop down menus.

Click the Cut Sheet button to open an Adobe .pdf file with the manufacturer's specs.

The Detail Sheet button will direct users to the manufacturer's website, intranet, etc. and display the installation Detail sheet drawing, if it is available for the part.

Cards in this Device

The Cards in this Device dialog box (see image on right), lists the complete list of Supply Cards currently allocated to the fire control panel.  Cards were formerly known as Nodes.

To include additional Cards, click Add Card, and to view the properties of a selected Card, click Properties/Circuit. Naturally, Delete removes a selected module from the list.  Access an individual Card's Properties page by highlighting the card's row and clicking the Properties/ Circuits button, or simply double-clicking on the card's row.

Column Headers separate each Card's Name, Part Number/Description, Circuit Count and Battery Set.

Note:  For more information on adding a new Card or modifying its existing properties, click on the image to be routed to the Panel Card Properties page.
